Formation/Occurrence:
Combustion processes (engines, furnaces), chemical production; also a physiological signaling molecule in trace amounts.
Limit Values:
Workplace and environmental limit values exist; often low ppm ranges.
Effects:
Irritation, conversion to NO₂ with stronger lung effects; forms methemoglobin at high doses.
