The Repairability Index
The Repairability Index was developed in France and helps manufacturers self-assess the repairability of their devices. The index has five subcategories and allows for the assessment of smartphones, laptops, washing machines, TVs, lawnmowers, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners and pressure washers. The final score is the result of a complex scoring formula created by a specialist committee for the repair index. We took inspiration from this index and applied it to our air-Q, presenting the criteria here in simplified form.

Disassembly
The air-Q is easy to disassemble. Only basic tools are needed. All parts can be replaced, and more than half of the components can be reused.
Criteria (examples):
• All components can be swapped! Fewer than five steps are required for disassembly in each case.
• Almost half of the components can be swapped without tools or with simple tools. The remaining components only require a Torx 6 screwdriver.
• More than half of the components are removable and reusable, meaning they can be detached and reattached (e.g. to extend functionality by swapping sensors).

Spare parts
High spare-parts availability and fast procurement make repairs easier.
Criteria (examples):
• All spare parts can be delivered to customers in less than 3 days.
• Availability of more than 7 years is guaranteed for all spare parts for parts dealers, workshops and consumers.
• It is ensured that our suppliers can also deliver larger quantities of most components within three to five days.

Prices
Affordable spare parts ensure that a repair is worthwhile.

• The price of the most expensive spare part is no more than 20% of the device’s retail price.
• The cost of an average spare part is just 5-10% of the device’s retail price.

Specific Criterion
The so-called Specific Criterion describes how easy it is to carry out a repair yourself at home.
Criteria (examples):
• Regular updates and information about the various available updates via a changelog
• Easy factory reset via resetting the firmware settings and formatting the SD card at the push of a button
• Support for repairs via support portal, forum and in person
