air-Qs with a sensor for Hydrogen Cyanide

Formation/Occurrence:

In chemistry/metallurgy, nitriding processes, from cyanide salts under acid influence, in fires of nitrogen-containing plastics.

Limit Values:

Very low workplace and short-term limit values (often in the low ppm range).

Effects:

Rapid onset — dizziness, convulsions, respiratory arrest; fatal within a short time at high exposure.

Note:

Specific antidotes (e.g. hydroxocobalamin) in emergencies; gas detection technology and training mandatory.
