How Do Allergies Develop?
Allergies are immune system malfunctions that manifest at the points where our body comes into contact with the environment. The most common forms of allergic overreaction include asthma, allergic rhinitis (hay fever), allergic dermatitis (atopic eczema), and contact allergies. The air that surrounds us is one of the decisive factors for the wellbeing of allergy sufferers. This immune system malfunction can arise from various environmental influences. Environmental toxins in particular are suspected of causing allergies. Air pollutants are also among the triggers of allergies, causing otherwise harmless pollen to suddenly be classified as an infection. Antibodies are then produced. On all subsequent contact with these harmless substances, the immune system reacts as if it had to fight off these foreign bodies. This then manifests as allergic reactions.
Relieve and Prevent Allergies
In Germany, almost one in three people suffers from an allergy. The skin, mucous membranes and respiratory tract are particularly frequently affected by allergic reactions. Allergies can significantly limit quality of life and make those affected considerably more susceptible to the effects of air pollutants. The air-Q air analyzer warns early when allergens and stressful or critical air conditions can trigger or intensify allergic reactions.
How Does Air Quality Affect Allergies?
Skin & Mucous Membranes
Too little humidity attacks the natural protective barrier and dries out skin and mucous membranes. This not only promotes the development of eczema. The affected mucous membranes are also irritated by pollutants and allergens, which promotes or even triggers allergies.
Lungs & Respiratory Tract
Many allergens enter the respiratory tract as particulate matter and cause allergic reactions this way. The symptoms of bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis can furthermore be intensified by various air pollutants, such as nitrogen dioxide or ozone.
Mind & Concentration
Poor indoor air can reduce concentration and thus increase the error rate. The resulting increased stress level intensifies psychological strain and ultimately increases susceptibility to allergic reactions.
