It's recommended to ventilate once CO₂ levels reach 1,000–1,500 ppm, since early effects on concentration are already noticeable at this point. At the latest by 2,500 ppm, fresh air should urgently be let into the room, otherwise headaches and fatigue can result.

The CO₂ Calculator Makes the Following Assumptions

A person breathes in and out 15 times per minute. One breath has a volume of 700 ml. This represents an average value.

Exhaled air has a CO₂ concentration of 40,000 ppm.

Fresh air contains 450 ppm of carbon dioxide.

The room is airtight, with no air exchange and no fresh air.
