Save Gas & Lower Energy Costs
The gas crisis is here, and it’s clearly noticeable! Energy costs are rising, and many people fear their next heating bill. We’ll tell you how to save gas. The air-Q supports you by showing you exactly when to ventilate and for how long. This means no unnecessary heat escapes outside, and your risk of mold stays low. Read our further tips on saving gas and lowering energy costs as well.

Proper Insulation
Make sure your heating pipes are properly insulated. Even a short section of uninsulated heating pipe can cause significant heat loss. You should also check doors and windows for adequate insulation.
Set your thermostat correctly
With an electric thermostat that displays the temperature, you can heat your rooms as recommended. The kitchen and bedroom should stay cooler (16–18 °C), while living rooms and children’s rooms should be heated to a cozy 22 °C. See the infographic below for what the settings on a standard thermostat mean:
Proper ventilation with the air-Q
Proper ventilation is one of the most important things when it comes to saving energy. A window left permanently tilted open leads to enormous heat loss, while ventilating too rarely increases the risk of mold. The air-Q helps you find the right balance. It shows you exactly when and how long to ventilate. Brief, intensive airing (“Stoßlüften”) is the most energy-efficient method.
Watch out, myth:
A widespread myth is that you should never turn the heating off completely, since it supposedly takes more energy to reheat a completely cooled room. This is false! As a general rule: the less you heat, the less you pay. Always turn your heating off, or set it to the frost-protection level, when you leave the house for an extended period or go to sleep.
Lead time & residual heat:
If your heating system has a timer, be sure to use it. Turn your heating off at night and only turn it back on one to two hours before you get up. Turn the heating off before you leave the house, since radiators — and especially underfloor heating — continue radiating heat for a long time, which you can use for free.
Keep an eye on all measured values with the air-Q app for smartphone and web
All measured values can be viewed and analyzed via the air-Q smartphone app. Nothing goes unnoticed, since the sensors used in the air-Q measure at a sampling rate of under two seconds — truly in real time. The air-Q can also be networked and works with common smart home standards. Thanks to its open data interfaces, there are no limits to deeper custom analyses and integrations into your smart home.
