What exactly is crowdfunding?
Crowdfunding refers to a model in which interesting projects can be supported through an advance financial contribution. On a dedicated platform such as Kickstarter, the project seeking funding presents itself. This lets backers easily access all the information about the project and the product and decide whether they want to support it — that is, buy it.
The difference from a "normal" online purchase is that backers use their contribution to support the manufacturing of the product. They also get the unique opportunity to communicate directly with the developers and get involved in the development process. From the campaign to delivery, progress can be tracked transparently on the platform, creating a relationship of trust between providers and interested parties.

How do you become a backer?

From there, you'll be automatically forwarded to the payment form and will receive a confirmation email once payment is complete. You'll receive the product you chose as soon as we've completed the final steps of production — thanks to your contribution and the successful crowdfunding. After that, the air-Q will become available in stores after a certain lead time.
Why should you support our Kickstarter campaign?
- Only if we receive enough orders through the crowdfunding campaign can we start series production of our air quality sensor. The fixed costs for the necessary tooling — for example, to produce the housing and individual components — amount to a five-figure sum.
- You get the air-Q significantly cheaper than it will later be available in stores. We're not making a profit here, but with your help we're able to cover the one-time costs.
- You'll receive the air-Q much earlier than later buyers in stores.
- In addition to receiving your air-Q once production is complete, participating in the campaign lets you, as a backer, take part in the development up close. Not only can you regularly receive updates on the development process — the platform also gives you the chance to engage directly with the developers of the air quality sensor and take part in upcoming decision-making.
