Dream Team for Good Indoor Air: air-Q & Our New Partner AIRY

Good, healthy indoor air means keeping an eye on air quality and the pollutants present in the air. Air quality monitors like the air-Q are ideal for this. After measuring the air comes purifying it. One effective and beautiful option is the AIRY air purification system. We introduce you to our new partner.

AIRY: air-Q's Partner for Better Indoor Air Quality

With AIRY, you bring high tech and nature into your everyday life. The plant-based air purification system offers a green, natural way to reduce pollutants and improve indoor climate. The specially designed, plant-based biofilters support plants in their natural ability to remove pollutants such as carbon dioxide (CO₂), formaldehyde, benzene and other volatile organic compounds from the air. The result: purified indoor air with a high oxygen content.

How does the AIRY system work?

The AIRY air purification system is based on the findings of NASA research. Researchers discovered that certain plants with aerated roots can remove up to 90% of pollutants – even when their leaves were removed. The patented AIRY system harnesses this natural purification effect of plant roots and amplifies it.

The air-Q air quality monitor & the AIRY system complement each other perfectly

This is how air purification with AIRY works:

  • Plant selection: AIRY uses specific plant species that are particularly efficient at absorbing pollutants from the air.
  • Special AIRY pot: The AIRY system ensures the plant's roots are optimally aerated through an increased airflow, so more pollutants reach the roots.
  • Air circulation: Indoor air is drawn into the AIRY pot through side openings and flows through the root system, where the pollutants are broken down.
  • Filter mechanism: In the soil, plant roots and microorganisms work together, breaking down the absorbed pollutants and converting them into harmless substances through biochemical processes.

We tested whether and how the AIRY system works with our own air quality monitor. You can find the results of our test in a separate blog post.

air-Q & AIRY: How the Systems Complement Each Other for Good Indoor Air

Good indoor air requires both knowledge of what's in the air and a reliable purification system that reduces pollutants. This is where the air-Q air quality monitor and the plant-based biofilters complement each other.

Air quality measurement with air-Q

With its highly precise sensors, the air-Q home air quality monitor continuously monitors air quality in your rooms. This gives you real-time data on various air parameters such as CO₂, particulate matter, VOCs and many other pollutants. Depending on the model, you can detect up to 15 air components.

Air purification & improvement with AIRY

The AIRY biofilters efficiently remove pollutants from the air while also raising humidity. This creates a pleasant indoor climate – entirely naturally and sustainably.

Office air analysis for a good indoor climate in the workplace

Numerous factors play a role in health and optimal performance at work, air quality among them. Pollutants can cause fatigue and concentration problems, or even lead to illness. Besides increased exposure to pathogens in a poorly ventilated office, an estimated 20 to 30% of sick days can be attributed to so-called sick building syndrome.

An air-Q office air analysis provides a remedy. During a 14-day measurement phase and the subsequent evaluation, you learn which harmful factors are present at your workplace. You can track their development and impact and work with our experts to develop solutions. The analysis reveals not only the composition of the office air, but also uncovers energy waste from open windows or inefficient heating. So an office air analysis can ultimately even save you money!

This is how our office air analysis works!

WELL certification with air-Q & AIRY

The WELL Building certification evaluates buildings based on criteria that put the well-being and health of occupants front and center. Air quality is one of the central components of this internationally recognized rating system. Our air-Q is certified for the WELL seal. This means that having the air quality monitor in place helps your building or company meet the criterion of a healthy (working) environment. The AIRY system likewise supports a pleasant, clean indoor climate.

Conclusion

With the help of the AIRY system, the natural air purification provided by plants can be multiplied many times over, significantly reducing the pollutant content of indoor air. Thanks to its combination of design and functionality, AIRY offers an aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly solution for clean indoor air. Together with the air-Q, synergies emerge for healthy indoor air – both in private spaces and in the workplace. We're happy to provide you with detailed information and comprehensive advice on how to integrate the air quality monitor and the AIRY system into your spaces, implement an office air analysis, or pursue WELL certification. Summary

What is the AIRY system?
The AIRY system is an innovative, plant-based air purification system that combines high tech with natural processes. It uses specially selected plants and a purpose-built AIRY pot to effectively reduce pollutants indoors and improve the indoor climate.
How does the AIRY system work?
The system is based on findings from NASA research showing that certain plants with aerated roots can remove up to 90% of pollutants from the air – even without leaves. In the AIRY system, this natural purification effect is amplified through the following steps: plant selection, the AIRY pot, air circulation and the filter mechanism.
Which pollutants does the AIRY system remove?
The system reduces pollutants including carbon dioxide (CO₂), formaldehyde, benzene and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs), resulting in cleaner indoor air with a higher oxygen content.
How does air-Q contribute to WELL certification?
The air-Q air quality monitor is certified for the WELL Building standard, an international standard that puts the well-being and health of occupants front and center. air-Q continuously monitors air quality, allowing companies to ensure they meet the required criteria for a healthy (working) environment. The AIRY system complements this measurement by actively contributing to improved indoor air.
